What do we do when we are on the journey and come to an abrupt bump in the road? That is what happened the beginning of 2017. Boise, ID had record snow fall this winter; and then ice and rain, which created a slippery mess one morning.  Yes, I slipped and the pavement won!  I broke my wrist and a got compression fracture in my back. Time for a detour in all that momentum gained in the fall of 2016.

Coming out of surgery and beginning to heal, yes, I come down with this year’s flu/virus — 5 weeks!  Crazy, detour that would not stop!

Like Moses, leading the Israelites wandering in the desert, I am wondering what has happened.  The road was ahead, I could see it, even taste it!  But, it had a pause, a pause that required me to step back, rest and wait!

Late February I traveled to the midwest for a conference for children’s leaders.  God opened the door wide — the pause was over! The very week I arrived home, I was speaking at a children’s ministry networking meeting.  And within two weeks, participants for the children’s ministry course I coach have increased, I have been invited to speak at a conference in the fall in Colorado and I have a request being forwarded to speak at Parenting Conference.

All this is along the journey, some days slow and we rest; while others are wow! how do we keep up!

Learning is a daily process. For me, I realize that in January I was ready to go, not sure where but I had my running shoes on and movement was happening.  Through my healing and resting I have recognized God wasn’t ready for me to “run” yet.  The people I was to meet, the connections that needed to be made weren’t ready.  Everything in God’s perfect timing!

I encourage to you look for God’s timing along your journey. God knows your situation, your activities and where he has the “best” for you. Begin each day with the dream he has put in your heart; with prayer and confidence, allow him to set the pace for the journey.

In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.
